Dressage Horse Transitioned
to Barefoot and Bitless
This is my husband Bob's new Oldenburg DiCaprio the day
he arrived. Bob is 6ft tall for perspective. A wonderful
client gave him to us. He was a second level dressage horse.
We pulled his front shoes, gave him a nice barefoot trim and
hit the trails! We love Rio - he has a wonderful disposition
and a great personality. Bob is riding him in a Dr. Cook's
western bitless bridle.
Rio, shown below, is 4th from the left in the back
row...
Rio on his first group trail ride (second trail ride
ever) with a bunch of friends. we crossed bridges, went on a
quiet road, passed bicycles. He was very good! He was
wearing Generation 2 Old Macs for hoof boots. He only had to
wear them twice, his third ride he went barefoot and was not
'ouchy' at all, even on railroad tracks.
Rio His second time ever shooting, 2008? We never did get to
a real event, as we were not able to attend a clinic first.
Which is the safest way to introduce a horse to the sport.Tihe following year I started Ruger,so Rio was off the hook!
